EXPRESSION OF INTEREST TO BID FOR A DIGITAL TV LICENCE TO DELIVER FREE TO VIEW (FTV) CHANNEL CONTENT ACROSS NIGERIA THROUGH THE NIGERIAN NATIONAL FREE TV PLATFORM
Further to the expression of interest submitted by various Companies to deliver Free to View Channel content on the Digital platform, this is to inform you that the National Broadcasting Commission has approved that all Companies that submitted Expression of Interest and already transmitting should indicate interest in partnering with the Commission as an official channel for the pioneering trial of the Digital Free TV Service in Plateau State from November 1, 2015.
New Channels seeking for the Free to view TV Licence cannot participate at this stage but would be required to submit their proposals or response based on a request for proposals (RFP) in accordance with the conditions to be published on the Commission’s website at a later date.
The conditions for participation in this trial process as official channel partner are as follows:
1. The channel shall already be transmitting in some capacity in the Country.
2. The channel shall be ready to commence broadcast on the digital platform by 15th October, 2015, to ensure service testing can be completed in time for the Plateau State Launch date of November 1, 2015.
3. Existing analogue channels willing to participate would be required to give a firm commitment to promote the Digital Switch Over (DSO) on air from 15th October, 2015.
Interested Companies should confirm that its channel or channels would like to join as an official channel partner indicating the following information:
a. Channel name
b. Channel description
c. Broadcast window (start and end times of the daily broadcast)
d. 7 day programmes schedule
e. Contact telephone and email details.
The above information should be sent in both hard and soft copies to reach the Commission on or before Tuesday 15th of September, 2015.
Soft copies should be forwarded to email@example.com and hard copies addressed to Office of the Director General, national Broadcasting Commission.
Thereafter, further details for the launch would be communicated to all those who have indicated interest and meet the above requirements.
