ABUJA ZONAL OFFICE

 

  1. ITV Abuja was fined One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000.00) for playing a classified NTBB musical titled “Yahooze” by Olu Maintain on August 11, 2015 during its programme “Shine On”.  This breaches section 3.1.6 of the Code.

 

  1. Hot FM Abuja:  Fined One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000.00) for breaching Section 3.1.6 of the Code.  Station played a classified NTBB musical titled “Bang bang” by Jesse J ft Nicki Minaj and Arianna Grande on August 7, 2015 at 3:15pm. 

 

  1. Hot FM Abuja: Fined One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000.00) for playing a classified NTBB musical titled “Anaconda” by Nicki Minaj on August 14, 2015 at 3:15 pm.  This breaches Section 3.1.6 of the Code.

 

  1. Hot FM Abuja:  Fined One hundred thousand Naira (N100,000.00) for breaching section 3.1.6 of the Code.  Station played a classified NTBB musical titled “Gbesere” by Lil Kesh on August 19, 2015 at 11:54am.

 

  1. Ray Power FM Ilorin:  Fined One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000.00) for breaching sections 3.13.2.2(c), 3.1.6 & 3.6.1 of the Code.  Station on August 6, 2015 at 12:48pm aired musical by Kevin Little titled “Turn me on” which contains indecent lyrics such as “One hand on the ground and bumper cock sky high winning hard on me, got my python.  Hollerin for mercy, yea  hey-ai, then I whisper in her ear so wine harder.  And then she said to me Boy just push that thing push it harder back on me”.

 

  1. Ray Power FM Abuja:  Fined One hundred thousand Naira (N100,000.00) for playing a classified NTBB musical titled “Bugatti” by Ace hood on August 19, 2015 at 12:21pm.  This breaches section 3.1.6 of the Code.

 

  1. Kiss FM Abuja: Fined One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000.00) for airing content that is morally and socially unacceptable for public consumption.  Station on August 3, 2015 at 11:00am during its programme “Story for the Gods” featured a man  called in to complain that he is addicted to sex, his wife does not satisfy him, and he has found someone who satisfies him better outside his matrimonial home, he is losing his love for his wife”.

 

A caller said he should go out once in a while in order to satisfy his urge.  One of the presenters advised the woman to boost her sex drive; that probably she didn’t have enough sex before marriage.  One of the SMS sent in read “Some men know what they are, yet they decide to marry a Holy Mary”.  This breaches section 3.1.7, 3.6.1 & 3.7.10 of the Code.

 

  1. Grace FM Lokoja: Fined one hundred thousand Naira (N100,000.00) for breaching section 3.1.6 of the Code. Station played a classified NTBB musical titled “Drunk in Love” by Beyonce on August 20, 2015 at 5.59am.

 

  1. AIT Abuja: Warned for breaching section 3.3.1 of the Code.  Station during its programme “Saturday Treat”. August 8, 2015 at 9:20am featured a guest by name Oneresa Komolafe who claimed that they have oils that can make one pregnant the next day, and the presenter just said “Wow”.

 

  1. AIT, (Int’l):  Cautioned and advised to preview tapes before going on air.  Station on August 18, 2015 at 6:40 pm played a song by Bobby and Alexis Akpan with clips of under age kids on a yatch popping champagne and frolicking way above what was appropriate for their age.  This breaches section 3.13.2.2(c) & 4.2.2(a) of the Code.

 

  1. Ray Power FM Abuja:  Warned and advised to always preview tapes. Station on August 23, 2015 at 2:44pm played a song titled “My Body” by Timaya and Solidstar with  indecent and vulgar lyrics like “She say am nice, she say am sweet, she say she want my body, she say she can’t do without the body.  She say am hot and my body perfect, she knows am tough when my cocky gets hard.  I give her all the magical Rhythm.  She say please don’t groan oh-come give me some more.  E sweet like potatoe, she like the way I chew her like a chewing gum, like the way she lick me like tom-tom.  I say baby hum come all my buboes to my closet.  I say run come – take off your blouse and take off your shirt.  I like the way she give me that original sound, anytime I get her booty down. She give me that original sound she always like to chill at the water side now make love at water side”. These breaches section 3.13.2.2(c) of the Code.

 

  1. Kiss FM Abuja: Cautioned and advised to rescheduled programme to watershed. Yeche a presenter with the station during the programme “story for the Gods” on August 5, 2015 at 11:00 am, told a brief story of a girl that was molested by a doctor and she gave a vivid decription of the abuse like “the doctor touched her boobs, started fingering her, that he wants her to get wet” and it went on for a while.  A caller phoned in saying if the doctor had gained penetration, she should have sued him, another caller blamed the victim for allowing the fingering to continue.  They kept on repeating the word “penetration” in the programme.   This breaches sections 3.1.7, 3.6.1 & 3.7.10 of the Code.

 

  1. NTA 24, Abuja:  Warned for inserting Lux soap advert into Grade A programme, a LIVE broadcast of National Security Summit 2015 aired on August 17, 2015 at 11:30am. This breaches section 7.0.32 of the Code.

 

  1. Crowther Love FM Abuja:  Warned for breaching sections 7.3.5 & 7.3.18 of the Code.  Station on August 17, 2015 at 9:02pm aired the programme “Your health and my health” with Dr. Sani of Libidon Naturalist Center claiming to use master key Herbal flusher to treat long and short term infections.  He also advised people with infertility, impotence, childlessness, low sperm count, miscarriage etc to come to his office for check-ups, with his ultra modern detecting machines that can detect any health problem.

 

  1. ITV Abuja was issued a final warning to respect the family belt.  Station on August 20, 2015 at 3;18pm showed movie with sexually explicit and obscene material during children’s belt.  Eg. “Love making scene of a man lying on top of a woman deeply kissing each other”.  This breaches section 4.2.2(b) & 3.7.3 of the Code.

 

  1. Nigeria Info FM Abuja:  Warned for breaching section 7.0.15 of the Code.  A presenter with the station Kimberly on August 19, 2015 at 5pm endorsed product of Emma Exclusive thus: “We sell all kinds of female wears”, breaching section 7.0.15 of the Code.

 

  1. Aso FM Abuja Warned for breaching Section 7.3.1, 7.3.2, 7.3.5, 7.3.7 and 7.3.18.of the Code Station on August 12, 2015 at 12:30 pm, during its programme “You and Your Health” featured a guest, who claimed to have drugs that could treat hepatitis A, B, C correction of erectile dysfunction, heart problems, chronic pain.  He said he successfully treated a patient who had pancreatic cancer for chronic pain until his death.

 

  1. Midland FM Ilorin:  Warned for breaching section 7.0.15 of the Code, John Adewoye a newscaster with the station on August 11, 2015 during its programme “Rokeke” promoted “lateef Chocolate Tea” thus: “It reduces body diseases, it has vitamin A and B and that, its good for eye sight”.

 

  1. FRCN Harmony FM Ilorin:  Warned for advertising an alcoholic product “Bull Dry Gin and Bull Darkrum Gin before the stipulated time of 8:00 pm.  The adverts were aired on August 14, 2015 at 7:35 pm during its programme “Figbadun Sayo” thereby breaching Section 7.4.4 of the Code.

 

  1. AIT Ilorin has been off air since July 22, 2015 due to faulty transmitter.

 

  1. Kogi FM Lokoja: Warned for breaching section 3.9.1 of the Code.  A presenter with the station during its programme “Reggae Time” aired on August 20, 2015 at 1:41pm used an inciting language like “We will throw bomb like fire on the heads of bad leaders”.

 

  1. Royal FM Ilorin:  Warned for exceeding 60 secs spot advert.  Station on August 12, 2015 aired advert of Kunlex Driving School which lasted 1 minute 42 seconds and Royal Crescent Valley International School lasting 1 minute 20 seconds respectively.  This breaches section 7.0.10 of the Code.

 

  1. Crystal Radio:  Warned for breaching section 7.0.10 and 7.0.15 of the Code.  Fatima Sulaiman a presenter with the station on August 11, 2015 at 3:15pm promoted “Mustapha All Stories” saying “You can count on them, she also named some of their products”.  The advert also exceeded 60 seconds spot advert.

 

  1. TAO FM Okene has been off air since May 2015 after the bombing of the station.

 

  1. Kwara State Television has been off air since July 20, 2015 due to faulty transmitter.

 

BENIN ZONAL OFFICE

  1. EBS Radio Benin: Fined one hundred thousand Naira (N100,000.00) for breaching sections 7.3.5, 7.3.7 & 7.3.18 of the Code.  Station on August 31, 2015 between 4.25pm and 4.40pm aired trado-medical advert of different herbalists that claimed to treat all sort of diseases such as infertility, impotency, constant headache, toilet infections, diabetes, body pains etc.

 

  1. Adaba FM Akure was issued a serious warning, stating that a minimum fine of five hundred thousand Naira (N500,000.00) shall be imposed on subsequent breach. Station during its programme “Lape Orin” aired in August 19, 2015 between 10:03 am & 11:00 am featured some children who claimed to be witches, confessing to have killed so many people and drained their blood, saying “It is Bose that asked us to drain his blood and keep it” without protecting the identity of the children involved in this negative social incidence.  This breaches section 4.2.2i,l,n of the Code.

 

  1. ITV Benin: Cautioned for breaching section 7.3.10 of the Code. Station on August 6, 2015 at 1:27 pm aired advert of Fortune Skin Care which offers treatment for beauty thus: “We go solve all your skin disease like pimples, stretch mark, eczema, even cream reaction, sun burn, shaping of body” without stating the likely side effects”.

 

  1. EBS TV Benin: Cautioned for breaching sections 4.3.1(g), and 7.5.1(a) of the Code.  Station during its programme “Higher Life with Pastor Chris” on July 27, 2015 aired a programme “Atmosphere of Faith”, with miracles claims that is not verifiable, provable and believable thus:

 

  1. A lady with fibroid for four (4) years healed
  2. A boy with diabetes for four (4) years received instant healing
  3. A lady with cancer healed
  4. A lady with a bone in the wrong direction healed
  5. A lady that lost her hearing and part of her sight healed.

 

  1. EBS Radio Benin was issued a final warning for airing a trado-medic advert of Baba Ekudayo on August 13, 2015 at 8:56 pm who claimed to treat infertility, bone problems and interprets dreams.  Station also on August 15, 2015 at 4:30 pm and August 16, 2015 at 4:12 pm respectively aired various trado-medic advert by some herbalists that claimed to treat all sort of man’s problems such as impotency, low libido, sexual inactivity, eye problems, swelling in the neck and infertility.  This breaches sections 7.3.5, 7.3.7 and 7.3.18 of the Code.

 

  1. Bronze FM, Benin was issued a final warning for breaching Section 7.3.5 and 7.3.7 of the Code.  Station on August 11, 2015 at 5:01 pm and August 12, 2015 at 4:35 pm respectively aired an infomercial in which Baba Fulani a herbalist claimed to cure ailment such as frequent urination, eyes, bones, and Knee problems.

 

  1. Breez FM Akure was issued a final warning for breaching Section 7.0.18 of the Code.  Station on August 11, 2015 between 4:38pm and 5:00pm  aired a female preacher who made an unverifiable claim that Jesus visited her and places hands on her. She also claimed that she has the power to know if anyone that come to see her is lying or not.

 

ENUGU ZONAL OFFICE

 

  1. Dream FM Enugu:  Warned against hyping of sponsors products.  Station on August 6, 20`5 during its phone-in programme “Nwoke na Nwanyi Onye ka asi asi?” breached section 7.0.15 of the Code.  Ichie the anchor endorsed the services of Precious Child School thus:  “If I were you, I would take my child to Precious Child School because they have the facilities for teaching children and some of their teachers are whites”.  “What do you have to say about taking your child to a good school?”

 

  1. Minaj System Radio Obosi:  Cautioned and advised to observe due courtesies and stop hyping of sponsors product.  Station on August 4, 2015 between 1.05 pm and 4:00 pm went off air abruptly and came back without apology or appropriate courtesy.  A presenter with the station Bernard Onah and Charles Edeh also on August 6, 2015 at 8:15pm endorsed product of the sponsors of Life Continental Lager Beer saying “wherever you want to organize any ceremony, the answer is life beer”.  This breaches sections 3.1.12 & 7.0.15 of the Code.

 

  1. Radio Sapientia Onitsha:  Cautioned and advised to adhere to programme schedule.  Station on August 5, 2015 between 12:01pm & 12:20 pm failed to air the news in English, but replaced with musicals and advert without prior announcement or apology to the listeners and non-adherence to scheduled programme.  This breaches section 3.4.7 of the Code.

 

  1. EBBC TV Abakaliki:  Cautioned for breaching section 3.1.12 of the Code.  Station on August 7, 2015 at 9:00 pm experienced loss of audio during network news and could not continue with the programme.  There was no  apology.

IBADAN ZONAL OFFICE

 

  1. Uniq FM Ilesa: Fined One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000.00) after disobeying regulators “Stop and Desist” order for breaching sections 7.0.2, 7.0.6 and 7.0.10 of the Code.  Station on August 5, 2015 at 8:00am aired an infomercial with unsubstantiated claims in the promotion of a workshop on an Empowerment Programme thus:

 

  1. Admission into universities in America without any payment until after four years.
  2. How to make money on Viva and also to withdraw from ATM Card anywhere in the world.
  3. Processing of 3 – 4 years visa to any country.  Also, 2 years Dubai Visa with work permit, including Kuwait.

 

  1. OGBC II Abeokuta:  Warned for breaching sections 7.0.10 7.3.5, 7.3.7, 7.3.8, 7.3.18 and of the Code.  Station on August 7, 2015, during its programme “Irinkerindo Arole Akowole” between 8:00 pm & 10:00 pm advertised “Kampe Powder” with claims to cure general body weakness and menstrual pains, and advert of “Kerewa Herbal Bitters” with claims to improve sexual weakness.  Advertisement of Bonavit Multivitamin and Semmy’s Beauty Place exceeded 60 seconds spot advert stipulation as it lasted for 1 minute 33 seconds and 1 minute 45 seconds respectively.

 

  1. Amuludun FM Ibadan: Cautioned for transmitting 9 slots of infomercial within the hours of 8am & 6pm on August 5, 2015, thereby exceeding 6 slots per transmission in a day.  This breaches section 8.2.3(c) of the Code.

 

  1. MITV Ibadan: Warned for breaching Section 3.5.2 of the Code.  Station during its programme “Otilowaju” on August 16, 2015 used on archival material showing the late Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade with King Sunday Ade as a LIVE material.

 

  1. Galaxy TV Ibadan:  Warned and asked to repackaged advert of African Cable TV aired on August 12, 2015 at 3:30pm. The advert lasted for 2 minutes 50 seconds and 1 minute 40 seconds respectively.  This breaches section 7.0.10 of the Code.

 

  1. BCOS TV Ibadan:  Cautioned for breaching Section 7.0.20 of the code.  Station during its programme “PMA LIVE”  aired on August 22, 2015 between 2.30pm & 3:00 pm, featured Moji Alawiye a presenter with the station in the advertisement of “A six week Intensive Certificate Programme”.

 

JOS ZONAL OFFICE

 

  1. NTA JOS:  Cautioned for showing a drama series “This Life – A Change of Heart” on August 4, 2015 between 8:00 pm & 8:25 pm that portrays violence and rape scene without tact, and discretion during the family belt.  This breaches Section 3.7.10 & 3.10.1 of the Code.

 

  1. NTA Jos: Cautioned and asked to re-schedule programme outside children and family belt. The station aired a wrestling during its programme “window on Abuja” on August 17, 2015 between 1:17pm & 1:20pm, that portrays excessive pain and physical violence which could invite imitation by children, and a documentary on Argungu Fishing Festival aired on August 19, 2015, at 3pm showing cultural display with fire, a dangerous weapon in a glamorous manner capable of imitation especially by children before watershed of 10:00 pm.  This breaches sections 3.10.6, 3.11(c), & 4.2.2 (m) of the Code.

 

  1. Rhythm FM Jos, has been invited by the Commission for breaching Section 7.0.14 & 7.0.15 of the Code.  A presenter with the station on August 9, 2015 at 8:00 pm, endorsed product of the sponsor during its programme “Table for Two”, including the use of unsubstantiated superlatives thus: “Grand pure soya oil is the BEST, can be consumed by all.  It does not give heart burn, go purchase yours”.  “Renny Ballons is a wonderful place to be, very affordable.  The hall, tables, chairs and decorations in one price.  That is the only place you can get that for chikini money” make your occasion the talk of the town.

 

  1. Rock FM PLA Poly Campus Radio:  Cautioned for breaching Sections 1.3.1 & 1.3.8 of the Code.  The Campus radio uses the wrong station identification “Its Rock FM 98.9 Jos more often in transmission instead of the full identification “PLA Poly Rock FM Jos or “Rock FM reaching you from PLA Poly Jos Campus.

 

  1. Radio FM, Benue:  Warned for airing advert of “Shimskate and Spot” during its programme “Trader Buyer Connection” an eatery with indecent description “The coolness in the eatery can be compared to the coolness of mortuary”.  This breaches Section 7.0.2 & 7.0.17 of the Code.

 

  1. These stations listed below were issued warning letter for not forwarding to the Commission quarterly programmes schedule and synopsis before the beginning of the 3rd quarter, 2015, thereby breaching section 1.5.1 of the Code.

  1. Freedom FM Kano: Fined Fifty Thousand Naira (N50,000.00) for breaching sections 7.3.5 & 7.3.7 of the Code. Trado medical advert of Muhammed Khamis Kibiya was aired during its programme “Gaskiyar Lamari” where the practitioner claimed to have medicine that can cure breast Cancer, one of the ailment in NAFDAC prohibition list.

 

  1. Karama FM Kaduna was fined Fifty Thousand Naira (N50,000.00) for breaching Section 4.2.2(c) & 7.3.13 of the Code. Station on August 14, 2015 during its programme “Rumfa Sha Shirgi” between 5:00pm & 5:20pm interviewed one Abdullahi Baban Naira who claimed to specialize in driving out evil spirit (Al-jani) instantly, cures epilepsy, paralysis and other ailments.

 

  1. NTA Kaduna: fined Fifty Thousand Naira (N50,000.00) for advertising product of “ND Medical Botanic Centre” on August 13, 2015, with claims that ND Flusher, ND Pala and ND Power Booster cure urinary tract infections and increases performance in Men. This breaches section 7.3.5 & 7.3.18 of the code.

 

  1. NTA Kaduna: Fined Fifty Thousand Naira (N50,000.00) for breaching section 4.3.1(g) & 4.3.3(c) of the code. Station on August 23,2015 during its programme “Hour of Power” featured Pastor Peter Olaiya  claiming to have spiritual power that can cast away evil spirit, strikes witches with an arrow at night and lock them in  prison. He also claimed to cure one sorceress who is his neighbor.

 

  1. Ray Power Katsina: Cautioned and asked to repackage advert. Albustan hotel advert was aired with the use of superlative “the BEST hotel in Katsina”. The advert also exceeded 60secs spots, breaching section 7.0.10 & 7.0.14  of the code.

 

  1. NTA Kaduna: Cautioned and advised to take due care in dealing with themes which children could imitate. Station on August 3, 2015 during its programme “Kowa ya bar Gida” showed a scene of some blacksmiths putting their feet on hot metal, thereby breaching section 4.2.2(m) of the Code.

 

  1. Liberty FM (Hausa) Kaduna: Cautioned and asked to balance report. Station on August 7, 2015 aired a report where an APC chieftain, Alh. Umar Ahmed Gana alleged that the sons of the Emir of Zazzau were responsible for the unlawful sales of some plots of land at Alhuda-Huda college Zaria, during its programme “Turbar Demokaradiyya”. This breaches section 3.4.2 and 4.5.1 of the Code.

 

  1. Capital sound FM Kaduna has been invited by the Commission for breaching section 7.0.15 of the Code. Jenilia a staff of the Station endorsed “McVities Biscuit” for 5 minutes.

 

  1. JTV Dutse was warned against broadcasting of foreign programmes during family belt. Station showed  “wrestle mania” on August 5, 2015 between 9:30pm and 9:57pm, breaching section 1.16.1 of the Code.

 

  1. JTV Dutse:  Warned and advised to reschedule foreign content outside family belt.  Station on August 22, 2015 between 9:00 pm & 9:30 pm showed “The Gods must be Crazy II” a foreign movie before watershed of 10:00 pm.  This breaches section 1.16.1 of the Code.

 

  1. JBC Dutse:  Cautioned against unbalanced and unsubstantiated allegations against a local government Chairman of Jigawa state and former governor Sule Lamido by one Munir Uba Gumel of APC during its programme “Iya Ruwa” aired on August 10, 2015 at 10pm.  Thus “We are aware that they always pocket the local government allocation they receive because they think that, they will be dissolved soon….., the former governor and his sons diverted funds allocated to Jigawa State, that is why he is one of the 8 politicians known all over the world to have stolen money and deposited in Banks abroad”.  This breaches sections 4.5.1 & 5.2.5 of the Code.

 

  1. New World FM Dutse was cautioned for breaching section 5.2.19 of the Code.  Station was asked to stop praise singing of Gov. Badaru by Rarara but rather focus more on issues.

 

  1.  Andaza FM Jigawa was also cautioned for breaching sections 5.2.19 of the Code.   Station was asked to stop praise singing of Governor Badaru by Rarara but rather focus more on issues.

 

  1. Radio Jigawa AM:  Cautioned for breaching sections 8.2.2, 8.2.3(c) & 8.2.4 of the Code.  Station on August 19, 2015 between 8:00pm and 8.56pm aired a trado-medical infomercial of “Dan Fodio Islamic health Centre” containing spurious claims of healing serious ailments such as Diabetes, high blood pressure, and increased sexual libido by using “Goruba tree – a type of palm tree”.

 

  1. Companion FM Katsina:  Cautioned and advised to ensure newscasters rehearse bulletin before going on air.  Station during its “News in brief” on August 12, 2015 at 1:35 pm aired poor presentation by Newscaster who mostly swallow his words making it uneasy for listeners to comprehend, breaching Section 1.9.2 of the Code.

 

  1. Rahama FM Kano:  Cautioned and advised to desist breaching Section 7.0.10 of the Code.  Station on August 8, 2015 between 8:00 pm & 8:30 pm aired 8mins 30 secs advert during its programme “ku karkade kunnuwa”, thereby exceeding 6 minutes duration for a 30 minutes programme.

 

  1. Teachers Radio Kaduna:  Cautioned for breaching section 3.8.1. of the Code.  Oizamshia a presenter with the station used the word “terrible” to describe womanhood during its programme.  “The ideal woman” aired on August 23, 2015.

 

  1. Karama FM Kaduna: Cautioned for breaching section 8.2.2 of the Code.  Station on August 18, 2015 between 8:29 pm & 8:34pm broadcast infomercial of “Quiver Technology Seminar 2015” in Kafanchan, Zaria and Kaduna with unsubstantiated claims thus:

 

i).    Participants can import and export from the comfort of their room.

ii).   Print recharge cards

iii).  Import cars at very cheap rate and binary option.

iv).  Loan without collateral

v).   Nasat reality business that is making many Nigerians rich.

vi)   With 1,700 US Dollars you can travel abroad, it covers hotel, flight tour guide etc.

 

  1. Capital Sound FM Kaduna: Cautioned for breaching section 8.2.2 & 8.2.3(a) of the Code.  Station on August 18, 2015 between 12:15pm & 1:26pm, 8:18pm & 8:58pm respectively broadcast infomercial of “Quiver Technology Seminar 2015” in Kafachan, Zaria and Kaduna with unsubstantiated claims thus:

  1. Brila 88.9 FM:  Cautioned for breaching section 7.0.15 of the Code.  A presenter with the station during its programme “popular size with A. Team” aired on August 17, 2015 at 6.20 pm endorsed “1960 Bet” and urged listeners to patronize them.

 

  1. Continental Radio 102.3 FM:  Cautioned against expressing personal opinion in a programme.  Station during its programme “the morning show” aired on August 18, 2015 at 7:35 am read a text message sent by a listener, asking the discussant Barr. Ubani “who are the cabals that cannot be dislodged, Are they spirit?” The Presenter Bubu then said “Let me tell you, they are Babangida , Buhari, OBJ, Atiku, Danjuma and others Jonathan is not a member of the cabal”.  This breaches Section 1.9.3 of the Code.

 

  1. MITV CH. 43: Cautioned to always use their professional responsibility to check musical before they are aired.  Station on August 17, 2015 at 12:50 pm aired a musical video of “King Kong Remix” by Vector ft Phyno, Classic Reminisce and Uzi with occult, scary and horrific scene.  This breaches section 3.10.1, 3.10.2, 4.2.1 and 4.2.2(c) of the Code.

 

  1. STV CH. 23/TVC:  Cautioned to always use their professional responsibility and preview tapes before they are aired.  Station on August 18, 2015 at 12:53 pm aired a musical video of “King Kong Remix” by Vector ft Phyno, Classic Reminisce and Uzi with occult, scary and horrific scene.  This breaches Sections 3.10.1, 3.10.2, 4.2.1,  & 4.2.2(c) and of the Code.

 

MAIDUGURI ZONAL OFFICE

  1. FRCN Maiduguri:  Warned for breaching Sections 7.37, 8.2.2 and 8.2.5 of the Code.  Station on August 14, 2015 between 10:20am & 10:35 am broadcast infomercial of “Ihsaniyya Islamic Medicine Centre” in Hausa claiming cure for diabetes, hypertension, infertility and medicine to enhance knowledge and cure ulcer free of charge.  Also used Qu’anic verses and Hadith of the Holy Prophet Muhammed (SAW).

 

  1. Gombe Media Corporation:  Warned for breaching section 7.0.20 of the Code.  A staff of the station Sale Sarki Kuma voiced advert of Nurul Huda International Academy Gombe on August 14, 2015 at 4:50 pm.

SOKOTO ZONAL OFFICE

 

  1. Pride FM:  Cautioned and advised to effect correction.  A newscaster with the station while reading the news on August 5, 2015 at 11:30am mis-informed the audience when he called the emir of Gusau Sarkin Katsina instead of “Sarkin Katsinan Gusau”.  This breaches section 3.3.1 of the Code.

 

  1. Rima AM:  Warned and advised to repackage advert for breaching section 7.0.10 of the Code.  Station on August 12, 2015 aired advert of Nas Almachandai which lasted 1min 40 secs, exceeding 60 secs spot advert stipulation.

 

  1. Zamfara Radio:  Cautioned for unprofessional conduct, and inadequate preparation before commencement of broadcasts.  Mistakes with dates and time checks. Station on August 13, 2015 at 3:45pm and 5.08pm respectively suddenly went off air for 15 minutes, came back without appropriate courtesy. A presenter with the station also cited the date of Federal University of Gusau matriculation coverage as 28th August, 2015 instead of 13th August, 2015. This breaches section 3.1.12 and 3.3.4 of the Code

 

  1. Zamfara Radio AM still having technical problems as it is operating from its old studios following the fire incident that burnt out its new studios at the eve of 2015 general elections.  Station on August 20, 2015 aired poor audio throughout the programme, breaching section 12.15.1 (b) of the Code.

 

  1. KBC:  Warned and advised to adhere to its programme schedule.  Station aired “Don Matasa” at 10:30am instead of 9:30am as stated in its programme schedule without prior announcement, breaching Section 3.4.7 of the Code.

 

  1. NTA SOKOTO: Cautioned and asked to be more professional and prepared before coming on air.  Station on August 18, 2015 at 7.54pm mis-informed viewers during Labarun NTA where the presenter said “today is Monday instead of Tuesday”.  This breaches section 3.3.1 of the Code.

 

  1. KBTV:  Cautioned for unprofessional conduct by going off air for 10 minutes during its programme “Lafiya Jari”, aired on August 20, 2015, and resuming without courtesy to the viewers.  This breaches section 3.1.12 of the Code.

 

UYO ZONAL OFFICE

 

  1. Garden City FM, PH:  Fined one hundred thousand Naira (N100,000.00) for playing a classified NTBB musical titled “Ukwu” by Flavour on August 14, 2015 at 4:45pm.  This breaches section 3.1.6 of the Code.

 

  1. Planet FM Uyo: Warned for breaching section 7.0.15 & 7.0.20 of the Code.  A presenter with the station Cleo on August 12th  – 19th , 2015 between the hours of  8:15am and 8:52am respectively endorsed  High Point Global Limited, Fabulous Product, Royal Court Perfume and )-16 Clothing  during the programme Day break with Cleo and Newspaper review.  Sammy X another presenter with the station voiced and endorsed “Cemic Water and Darkin Stones”, during the programme Sammy’s Lounge aired on August 21, 2015 at 5:00pm and Tory Tory with Oma at 5:30pm.

 

  1. NDTV Yenagoa:  Cautioned for breaching section 4.3.1(g) of the Code.  Station on August 12, 2015 at 8:11pm showed a religious programme of Pastor Godwin Dorgu of Trinity Covenant Bible Church with claims of miracle and healing.  Thus:

 

  1. A young man was shown claiming to be healed of leg problems while using the anointing oil prayed by the Pastor during the programme.

 

  1. A lady also came out to testify that she has been healed of multiple fibroid after applying the anointing oil given to her by her brother who attended the programme.

 

  1. Nigeria Info, PH:  Warned for breaching section 7.3.5 & 7.3.7 of the Code.  Station on August 14, 2015 at 7:30pm aired Dr. Abdulahi of Winners Medical who claimed that his herbal drug can cure HIV/AIDs and other ailments.

 

  1. NTA Yenagoa:  Warned for breaching section 3.1.14 of the Code.  Station on August 17, 2015 at 5:00pm used scroll bar to advertise church activities with excerpts, “Attend RCCG close to you – attend early Victory worship at Bayelsa province, Chapel of Praise Sani Abacus Express way, Yenegoa.  Do you know that an end can come to all your challenges in life?, attend the next Holy Ghost service of rich every last Friday of the month at Redeemed Camp KM 46 Lagos/Ibadan Express way.

 

  1. Treasure FM PH:  Cautioned for breaching section 7.0.14 of the Code.  Station on August 17, 2015 at 1:30pm aired advert with the use of superlative “Magnet film product is Number One in Port Harcourt”.
