BRITISH BROADCASTING CORPORATION MEDIA ACTION SEEKS CORPORATION WITH NBC

BRITISH BROADCASTING CORPORATION MEDIA ACTION SEEKS FURTHER CORPORATION WITH NATIONAL BROADCASTING COMMISSION (NBC).

A delegation from the BBC Media Action, an International Charity arm of the BBC led by its Country Director, Seamus Gallagher, paid a courtesy visit to the DG, NBC, Mall Is’haq Modibbo Kawu, on the 21st September, 2016, at the Commission’s headquarters.

Welcoming the delegation, the NBC boss, gave a brief background of his history in the media industry, adding that he also noticed a tremendous change in the BBC where he was a reporter for the BBC world service.
 
The NBC Boss pointed out that he has plans of working with civil society groups like the BBC Media Action in looking at hate speeches during political campaign periods and the role played by broadcast media. He expressed his intention to collaborate with the BBC Media Action in future elections.

Is’haq Modibbo Kawu noted that he has tremendous respect for the BBC  for improving broadcast services in Nigeria and urged them to keep doing more in helping the Nigeria broadcast media to grow.

Seamus Gallagher, in his response, stated that part of the BBC Media Action’s work, was to focus on public service broadcasting through radio, television and online media. He also added that the corporation has spent a lot of time working on broadcast stations as well as the needs of Nigerians through broadcasting and to ensure they play a strong role in Nigeria.

The Country director also added that the purpose of the visit was to congratulate the DG on his appointment and also seek for a continued and improved partnership with the NBC as well as broadcast stations and BON. Adding that the BBC Media Action has a strong relationship with the NBC especially during electioneering campaign period. This, he hopes, would be sustained.

The visit ended with a group photograph and presentation of gift by the DG NBC to the BBC media group country director.
