HON.MINISTER OF INFORMATION AND CULTURE VISITS PINNACLE COMMUNICATIONS LTD AND TREFONICS ELECTRONICS LTD.

As part of the preparation towards the Abuja Digital Switch over, the Hon.Min of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, accompanied by the Digiteam Chairman, Engr. Edward Amana, and the DG’s of NBC and NTA, on Tuesday 11th October, 2016, paid an inspection visit to the Pinnacle Communications Ltd office and factory at Asokoro and Mpape, respectively, to inspect facilities.
The Director General, NBC, Mall. Is’haq Modibbo Kawu, stated that the visit was to inspect and examine the equipment procured by pinnacle ahead of the Abuja DSO. He also added that the Minister would tell Nigerians, after the inspection, how prepared the country was for the Digital Switch Over.
In his remarks, the Hon. Minister, Alhaji, Lai Mohammed, noted that he was at the Pinnacle Communications office to access the level of preparedness ahead of the Abuja DSO. He thanked the Chairman, Pinnacle Communications Ltd, for putting Nigeria first in ensuring that pending issues were resolved between the company and the NBC.
Welcoming the Hon. Minister and his team, the Chairman, Pinnacle Communications, Sir, Lucky Omoluwa, welcomed Alhaji Lai Mohammed and his team, and thanked the Hon. Minister for the opportunity accorded the company to be one of the Signal distributors for the Digital Switch Over and as well handle the Abuja DSO. Noting that the Company was 100% ready for the DSO.
The Hon. Minister later moved to the factory site in Mpape where he was conducted round the site by the Project Manager, Engr. Yomi Bolarinwa, who briefed the Minister about the structures that are being put in place as well as how signals will be distributed in the FCT, adding that the whole of Abuja will be covered.
Engr. Bolarinwa also informed the Hon. Minister that the mast installed for the project was of 120 meters, adding that by the end of the week, the mast will be ready and by the coming week, installation of equipment will start as well as technical test transmission. He, thereafter, conducted the Minister round the facilities.
Pinnacle Communications Ltd is one of the signal distributors licenced by the Commission to distribute signals for the DSO.
In the same vein, the Hon. Minister also visited Trefonics Electronics Ltd, one of the licenced Set-Top- Boxes manufactures, located in the Idu industrial layout in the Federal Capital Territory to inspect the manufacturing of Set-Top-Boxes. He was, thereafter, presented an award by the MD/CEO of Trefonics Electronics, Onochie Amasiani, for encouraging the local manufacturing of Set-Top-Boxes in Nigeria.
