MEXICAN INVESTORS SEEKS TO INVEST IN THE NIGERIAN BROADCAST INDUSTRY

MEXICAN INVESTORS SEEKS TO INVEST IN THE NIGERIAN BROADCAST INDUSTRY

The DG, NBC, Mall. Is’haq Modibbo Kawu, and his Management team, today, received the DG Voice of Nigeria, Mr. Osita Okechukwu, and a group of Mexican investors to the Commission.

Welcoming the delegation, the DG, NBC, informed the group that the NBC was the body that licence, regulates, and control broadcasting in Nigeria, and over the years, the institution has welcomed everyone or group of individuals who were interested in investing in the Broadcasting industry in Nigeria.

He pointed out that the Nigerian Broadcasting Industry was moving into a new phase because the country was transiting from analogue to digital terrestrial television broadcasting which offers enormous opportunities, in terms of job creation, investment and technological transfer.

The DG, NBC, noted that the Nigeria media ecosystem over the last 25years has opened up tremendously and today, there is a dialectical connection between what is happening in the broadcast and entertainment industry.

In his response the head of the Mexican delegation, Mr. Carlos, thanked the DG and his team for the warm reception accorded them. He also stated that the purpose of their visit was to inquire about the process of applying for an FM radio licence and policies governing the operations of such licence.

The DG, NBC, thanked the delegation for the visit and promised to look into their request.
