Digital Broadcasting Africa Forum 2016

The Digital Broadcasting Africa Forum 2016 takes place from 11th to 13th May 2016 at Eko Hotels & Suites, Plot 1415 Adetokunbo Ademola Street, PMB 12724, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria. This event is being organised by the CTO and hosted by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).

This event is a continuation of the successful Digital Broadcasting Switchover Forum Africa events that have taken place over the last decade – the new title for the event recognises the changes that have taken place in broadcasting during that time. These events have helped policy makers, regulators and operators from the African broadcasting and ICT sectors to map out their strategies for digital switchover.

The CTO is the intergovernmental Commonwealth organisation, based in London, mandated in the field of ICTs, in which UK is a key member. As a part of delivering its mandate the CTO organises conferences on topical issues.

The National Broadcasting Commission is a parastatal of the Federal Government of Nigeria, empowered to regulate the broadcasting industry by the National Broadcasting Commission Laws of the Federation 2004 CAP N11.

The CTO and NBC are co-organising this event to assist Commonwealth countries understand the various facets of Digital Broadcasting, consult with other stakeholders and find ways of addressing emerging challenges. Ministers in charge of Broadcasting, ICTs, Broadcasting and ICT regulators, operating companies, law enforcement authorities and international organisations are expected to be in attendance.

Reflecting the CTO’s mandate and stakeholder’s priorities, the 2016 event will be held on the theme of “Pan-Africa transition: Achieving Digital Migration Success”. Details about the event are available at
