The Director General, NBC, Mall. Is’haq Modibbo has indicated that the National Broadcasting Commission was ready for Africast 2016. He stated this, when he met with the press on Thursday 13th, October, 2016.

Mall Is’haq Modibbo Kawu, stated that AFRICAST 2016, which is the 11th edition of the biennial Conference of African broadcasters, started in 1996. The Conference according to the DG has evolved as an investment platform as well as a market place of ideas and material.

The NBC boss pointed out that at Africast 2016 Industry players will listen to Conference papers, attend master classes and discussions which are rich and engaging. Adding that it will also feature the exhibition of top quality, cutting edge digital broadcast equipment which broadcasters will find very rewarding for their businesses and also a platform that will create networking opportunities for participants and exhibitors.

He also stated that this year’s Africast will witness a convergence of ideas as well as celebrating excellence.

Mall. Is’haq Modibbo noted that there was a great significance between the first Africast which took place in 1996 and the one holding this year.  He added that the first Africast coincided with the deregulation of the broadcast industry, while this year’s, edition is coming at the threshold of the digital transition which according to him will have several benefits to the country.

He noted that the Commission was thinking about a new future for AFRICAST and was planning to make the event a yearly programme and also a permanent industry activity on the global calendar.

The DG, NBC, implored broadcasters, policy makers, content producers and equipment manufacturers, both local and foreign to explore the opportunities the Africast platform will be providing between the 18th – 20th October, 2016.  He reminded them of the event venue which will be at Sheraton Hotels & Towers Abuja as well as its theme: Digital Terrestrial Broadcasting: Financing Quality Content.
